What is HBWR?

The seeds of the Argyreia nervosa contain a naturally occurring tryptamine called LSA (Lysergic Acid Amide), which is closely related to LSD. It is a member of the Convolvulaceae family which also includes the morning glory (Ipomoea).

Hawaiian Baby Woodrose effects

The trip you experience is similar to LSD -though less intense- and can last 6 to 8 hours. Effects include euphoria, tranquillity and visuals. But the one defining effect people report on during a trip is the severely altered perception of time and space.

Common side effects include nausea (particularly when chewing the seeds), dilated eyes and typical hangover feelings such as vertigo.

Preparation

To start with, a few warnings: don’t underestimate the powerful effects of Hawaiian Baby Woodrose and always have a sitter present. You may just need that extra hand when you find yourself melting into your couch. What seems cool at first can quickly become a nauseating nightmare that goes on for hours.

The seeds themselves can be chewed but the husk is what causes nausea, so this method of consuming the seeds is usually not a very pleasant way of taking LSA seeds. Grind the seeds in a coffee grinder, then soak them in purified water (not tap water) for 24 hours. Afterwards filter the ground seeds (for example with a coffee filter) and drink the resulting material as a tea. Drink slowly over a period of 20 - 40 minutes. This process reduces the toxins you ingest when chewing the seeds, and should reduce the nausea.

How many seeds you need to trip differs from person to person, but here is some general guidelines. First time users should ‘test the water’ with no more than 2 or 3 seeds. For an average Baby Woodrose dosage we recommend 4 - 8 seeds, be very careful with taking more. Take the seeds on an empty stomach.

- Martin: I was seeing rainbows and teddy bears and my whole room turned cartoony.

- PRGRM: It’s like salvia 100x, times infinity....not for the casual...

- Andrea: Hawaiian baby Woodrose are not a joke...It's not a thing to do to have just fun, they are very very powerful, it's a very strong experience. Never do it alone...please believe me.

Warning

In case we didn’t make it clear yet; don’t be fooled by the word ‘baby’. It’s better to feel nothing and slightly increase the dose next time than to experience your stomach turning inside out and projectile vomiting.

Dealers instead of coffeeshops

De weed pass was intended to strictly regulate the weed business. Coffeeshop visitors are asked to register as a member and can only buy a limited quantity of weed if they show their weed pass. Foreigners are unable to register and get a card.

But instead of registering, both the Dutch and foreign users are now ignoring the coffeeshops and getting their weed elsewhere. Street dealers are enjoying booming business now everyone is turning to the illegal circuit.

Discrimination

The President of the Official Association of Coffeeshops in Maastricht (VOCM) Marc Josemans tried to provoke a trial by way of protest, on grounds of discrimination against foreign visitors that were refused entrance to his coffeeshop Easy Going.

The Public Prosecution, however, stated that nothing will be done with these complaints. A spokesman said: “We only carry out government policy and the government has determined that this is not punishable.”

It could still come to a trial if the people that were refused entry turn to the court in Den Bosch and plead their case. It is unlikely they will.

Nuisance

The Dutch VOC (Society for eliminating cannabis prohibition) recently summed up the situation 5 days after the weed pass went into effect: chaos, anger and frustration. The Dutch news networks even showed the dealers on television: grinning from ear to ear and openly advertising their wares. The police does nothing, despite the promises of ‘zero tolerance’.

All the police seem to do is hand out flyers to everyone that has a foreign license plate. In an ironic turn of events these same flyers are also distributed by the illegal dealers as a means of advertising their own service. A service which is not bound by any rules or regulation.

VOC spokesman Joep Oomen: "It's no fun being right. We’ve been saying this for years, the weed pass is hopeless. And now we see that the policy indeed fails and everybody looks to the Hague. Ivo Opstelten (Dutch minister) is responsible for this. "

As clarification for our foreign readers; the weed pass has not been introduced in Amsterdam yet. When and if this happens is unsure, in light of the news mentioned above.

Just another web shop

The Farmers Market site appeared to be a regular online shop complete with order forms, PayPal check-out and customer service, though the wares for sale were all controlled substances. This sophisticated operation began in 2006 and processed drugs worth millions of dollars.

Two year investigation

The store is believed to have been run by a team of 8 men. The authorities have identified Dutch citizen of 42 as the ringleader of the group. Other arrests were made on suspicion of drug crimes.

A U.S. Attorney involved in the two-year investigation leading up to the arrests: "Illegal narcotics trafficking now reaches every corner of our world, including our home computers. But the reach of the law is just as long. [...] We want to make the Internet a safe and secure marketplace by rooting out and prosecuting those persons who seek to illegally pervert and exploit that market."

Impact for suppliers of legal thrills

Azarius may not agree with all the restrictions put on certain products and substances, but we always stay well on the side of the law, because we'd be stupid not to. We do not sell illegal substances of any kind and do not ship to countries where the laws prohibit our products.

The people of Rasquera in the northeast Catalonia region voted 56 percent in favor and 44 percent against in Tuesday's referendum.

The mayor had set 75 percent as the minimum level of support, and said he would resign if this were not achieved. Now he is apparently backtracking.

Mayor Bernat Pallisa said Wednesday he is delaying any decision. The adviser, Jose Maria Insausti, said meetings of the seven-member town council over the next two days should determine if Rasquera leases land as planned for the growing of pot to pay off its 1.3 euro million debt.

"We don't know why kappa receptors evolved, but we know that they have been around for a long time in evolutionary terms; even frogs have them," said Bryan Roth, a professor of pharmacology and an opioid receptor expert at the University of North Carolina, whose group teamed with the Stevens lab for the new study.

Even the psychedelic effects associated with kappa receptor activation could be useful in providing insights into perception and consciousness. "This is a receptor that is important for how we see reality," said Roth.

The study confirms that Salvia can possibly prove useful in scientific research and may have medicinal benefits.

Apparently, this was taken into account by the IV Crown Court in Santiago, that decided to absolve Csar Ahumada Lira, 42, and his partner, Dnae Dimitra Senz, 41, of the accusation of drug trafficking, for whom prosecution was demanding 7 years of prison.

The accused were found performing shamanic rituals with ayahuasca in their property outside of the Chilean capital, but Chilean law doesn't forbid growing these plants and the International Narcotics Control Board doesn't control the brew obtained from it.

What's interesting is, the sentence states that "The tribunal has become convinced that, far from constituting a danger for public health, the activity developed by the defendants has resulted in important benefits for multiple people, several of whom explained in court their experiences."

Besides, adds that "it has been proved that what the defendants offered to other people was a potion known internationally by the name of ayahuasca, and not dimethyltriptamine (DMT) as stated by the prosecution.

The preparation of this beverage also includes chacruna, which contains some concentration of DMT but the sentence says that "it was not proved that these concentrations brought any risks for people's health."
