Green Tea extract
Green tea extract has since several years been known to aid in weight loss due to the thermogenic effect. It increases the rate of energy consumption when exercising and thus fat will be burned faster.
This extract is made of the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis, or tea plant, and consists of 50% of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).
Effects
Many of us are aware that antioxidants are essential for a healthy body. They help to fight against free radicals. Antioxidants are found in many common foods such as vegetables and fruit.
Green tea contains antioxidants; it contains a lot of them. In particular it contains one very powerful antioxidant called EGCG or epigallocatechin gallate. Some researchers claim that it contains far more antioxidant properties than both vitamin E and vitamin C.
Green tea also contains tannins, which have a calming effect on the nerves.
Several studies have shown that green tea increases the metabolism. The rate of energy consumption of the body goes up, so the fat reserves will be called upon more, resulting in faster weight loss.
Usage
Take the extract with a meal in capsules of 100 mg, in combination with extra vitamin C to stimulate the slimming effect.
The extract can also be used to make tea, though the effects will be lessened in comparison to ingesting the extract.
When using green tea extract as a weight loss supplement, it is advised to exercise (more) to make optimal use of the thermogenic effect. The recommend dosage is 2 – 3 capsules of 100 mg a day.
